In many ways, Twig represents a new beginning. On the last day of the year in 2006, Ken(our co-founder) was told his job was being eliminated. One week later, Ken was interviewing for a high profile job when the interviewer (who would have been Kens' boss) started to refer to him as one of "her people". At 41, Ken knew he wanted to work in an environment that reflected his morals and values. To work in such a place, he would have to start his own company, and to finance this endeavor; the family home would have to be sold. Ken spoke to his Wife (and now business partner Margo) about this and wrote a business plan based on 18 years of industry knowledge.
This undertaking meant sacrifice, a move, and a major change in lifestyle. A family meeting was called, and the family voted unanimously to follow this dream.
So what does Twig product stand for? Quality. Style. Comfort. Twig shoes are made of leather or canvas, which breathe so as to provide the best environment for your child's foot (the average child's foot perspires a pint of moisture per day). The product reflects a style that allows your child to stand apart. Twig shoes have padded footbeds and soft leather linings, so kid's feet don't hurt at the end of the day. Twig designs are age appropriate (kids grow up too quickly), and our design reflects a theory of "fashionably tasteful" with a strong dose of emotional appeal. Twig also firmly supports the local Mom and Pop businesses as the majority of our distribution is done with these types of retailers. Our footwear is designed for form, function, fashion and fit.
Most importantly, we believe in taking care of our customers. If you call Twig, you will be speaking to the owners and we absolutely promise you will never have to choose from a menu! If you email us, you will receive a personalized response from a Twig family member in a timely manner.
We want our children to understand sacrifice, hard work and challenge as well as the pride of being able to say that we own a business. We want our customers to see the value of hand made shoes that prioritize comfort, quality and fit.
